The Birth of a Rican- by Manuel
Hernandez Carmona- book presentation at Student Center
at Interamerican University-Fajardo Campus on Dec 6, 2007 |
It is a 7 chapter semi-auto-bio story that reaches
out to thousands of displaced Latino/a s who have gone back
and forth and to and from their native coutry and metropolitan
cities across the United States.
The story is a three generational Puerto Rican
drama that depicts the migration of a family to the United
States after Operation Bootstrap in the 1950's and its return
to The Island 20 years later.
The Birth of a Rican also explores the connection
between the California migration in the early 1900's and its
encounter with the early PR migrations to New York in the
1920's.The story takes you into the past runs into the present
and takes you back in time.
The story has received excellent reviews from
readers in Puerto Rico, Miami and New York.
